120 years celebration of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand
September 18, 2013 at 4:39 PM
As New Zealand led the way to give women the vote 120 years ago to Kate Sheppard and her suffragettes, women still lag behind in many areas.
Certainly in the family violence and sexual violence sectors, women are their highest victims, and with their children are the highest number of being homeless in Christchurch as reported here. Women can ill afford high housing costs especially in private rentals.
Pay equity, leadership in professional, political and corporate sectors highlight long standing unequal opportunities or disparities.
Some centres will hold celebrations of this political historical milestone as reported here.
